Die "Only to fit in" untersucht die Spannung zwischen Authentizität und dem Druck, sich anzupassen.
Eine ursprünglich vollständige Kreisform wird zerschnitten und in eine neue Form gebracht. Durch diesen Prozess wird die ursprüngliche Ganzheit aufgelöst, um sich einer vorgegebenen Struktur anzupassen.
Das Schneiden und Neuordnen spiegelt die subtilen, aber beständigen Wege wider, auf denen Identität verändert wird, um äußeren Erwartungen zu entsprechen. Was einst natürlich und in sich geschlossen war, wird auseinander genommen und neu geformt. Das wirft die Frage auf, was im Prozess des Sich-Anpassens verloren geht.

The series "Only to fit in" explores the tension between authenticity and the pressure to conform. A once complete circular form is cut apart and reassembled into a new shape. Through this process, the original wholeness is disrupted in order to fit an imposed structure.
The act of cutting an rearranging reflects the subtle but persistent ways in which identity is altered to meet external expectations. What was once natural and self-contained becomes fragmented and reshaped - raising the question what is lost in the process of fitting in.

Als ich klein war, spielte ich Puzzle. Ich schnitt so lange an der Scheibe Käse herum, bis sie exakt auf die Scheibe Brot passte. Eckiges wurde rund. Zu große Stücke wurden verkleinert, um Lücken zu füllen. Nichts durfte über den Rand hinausragen. Ich nahm dem Käse seine Form und quetschte ihn in eine neue.
Das mache ich bis heute. Nur manchmal eben auch mit mir selbst…

When I was little, I used to play a kind of puzzle. I would cut the slice of cheese again and again until it fit perfectly onto the slice of bread in front of me. Edges became round. Pieces that were too big were trimmed down to fill the gaps. Nothing was allowed to stick out beyond the edge. I took the cheese's original shape and pressed it into a new one.
I still do that today. Only sometimes, it's myself I reshape.
